Honey Bee Stars

There are lots of favorite things in this Jelly Roll quilt! We’ve got daisies and bees and teal and star blocks all united together in a scrappy pattern.

This was another one of my attempts at just using what I had, except I didn’t have anything on hand except the jelly roll (and it’s a good one!). When I set out to make this quilt, I wanted to try something new – a colored solid background.

It hasn’t been incredibly long ago that I did things quite a bit differently. I had never used solid white (gasp – 6 children, 2 dogs, a cat, a husband — white is a BAD idea), didn’t do scrappy quilts, hadn’t used an actual pattern, didn’t buy fabric for specific projects or only bought for specific projects and bought enough for 6 of that project because 2 yards of everything is just the perfect amount, right?!

Opps, squirrel, back to this project. I followed the pattern for everything except for the outside border. Really, it all goes together much easier than it looks! The blocks were simple to make. Free motion quilted some flowers, they’re supposed to be daisies and an occaional bee mixed in amongst the swirly loopy things. Backed with flannel of course and that binding — stripes.

This is the quilt that gave me a love for a striped binding!
