Grinch’s Christmas

The Grinch is one of my most favorite Christmas movies of all times; the traditional TV version and then ultimately the live action remakes. Not sure why this grumpy old guy is such a holiday staple for me, but perhaps it’s his whole back story.

This was one of those patterns that didn’t come from a pattern, it was hand sketched with graph paper and pencils (a few times). I started with the panel that included all of the faces, found some other Grinchy fabrics and combined with some stuff from my stash and ended up up with this framed design.

The color scheme is not totally Christmas in a traditional sense, but neither is the Grinch. Fun and whimsy are things that come to mind – childhood memories level unlocked.

Each of the feature squares is quilted around the characters. Backed with fuzzy lime green fleece, in true Grinch form.

It’s been a few years (2022), and I have 1 more of these panels left, it might be time to give the Grinch a little makeover!
