Denim Lonestar

I’ve got favorites – we all do. Star blocks are my go-to chefs kiss – favorite. The goal, eventually is to make a large Lonestar quilt, but I haven’t been brave enough to tackle that just yet. This is my 2nd Lonestar, my first being just 18″ table topper version with only 4 pieces per point.

I purchased a set of scrap strips at a local quilters destash sale; with no plan for using them. I bought them because I loved the colors, patterns and overall vibe they gave. Turns out, those pieces were from the Nantucket Summer line by Camille Roskelley, and I absolutely adore them.

Being that I bought them with no plan, they sat in my scrap stash for quite a little while, until one day, I decdied that I was going to use up some stash to make room and these strips were already cut. I headed out to the land of Pinterst and came up with a plan to make a Lonestar for my work office, so I could have something beautiful to look at.

Completely scrappy, definietly need to practice piecing those 60* angles, but oh, how I love this and seeing it every single work day just brings a little piece of me into my not-quilting space.

For the quilting design, I used this as a practice for free-motion work, each white space has a different pattern/technique.

Quilting doesn’t need to be big and elaborate to be joyful. This small wall hanging piece was just for fun, for practice, for making me happy.
