Country Picnic

Another one of those use up the stash projects.

I am a subscriber to the Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop and I love it. Although, truth be told, I rarely make any of the projects that come with it. I just collect the fabric and patterns and put them in my stash to use some other time.

The main prints for this quilt came as either a Jolly Bar (basically half of a layer cake square) or a Junior Layer Cake (smaller collection of a layer cake). I cannot remember which, but either way, I cut it up into squares and combined it with a bunch of cream colored scraps that coordinated with the warm fall vibe that I got from the main prints.

I wanted a classic patchwork style quilt that had that fall vibe, but not necessarily “fall” themed. This one hit the spot.

This type of design is quick, easy and timeless. I wrote up my instructions into a pattern, which is available to newsletter subscribers.

When it came time to quilt it, I spent hours tracing a fox stencil I created in Cricut onto the top (I like to use Crayola ultra washable markers for this part). Once it was all on, I sat down and ran it through my longarm.
