Coastal Shores
There are days when I look at my stash, overflowing the shelves where it lives, and I challenge myself to make something using only whatever I can pull from the shelves.
But here’s the thing about me – it has to go together – in a coordinated fashion, including the back. It’s not a “rule” that I follow because someone said it had to happen like that, its just how my brain creates.
I had this coastal themed layer cake in my stash for quite some time. I had a phase where I would buy fabric just because it was on sale and I thought it was pretty. This was one of those, I didn’t have a plan, I didn’t have a purpose for it, but I loved the calming dusty blues and greyish-browns.
I pulled the layer cake out and found *just enough of a scrap pieces of gray-ish brown solid that I could use for sashing. It turned out perfect.
I did free motion quilting in random waves for the design and backed it with a fun ocean themed flannel (one of the things that I find myself missing from JoAnn days – the abundance of cute flannels).
