Picking Peaches
I fell in love with this pattern the moment I saw it, and spent over a year trying to decide just what fabric lines or colors I wanted to use for my own version. I finally settled on the line of fabric by My Sew Quilty Life, called Flower Girl. Specifically, the peaches and moss green – have you noticed a theme, these are some of my go to colors!
The blocks are fairly simple to put together and they are BIG, so you only need a few. The pattern has been written in such a way that a secondary design is created when the blocks are all laid out together and it looks much more complex than it really is.
These big sawtooth stars just give me all the feels.
This is backed with a peach luxe minky, which gives the quilting extra diminsion and texture. It was one of my first big minky backed projects, and I was ready to throw in the towel. There are several areas of imperfection, but I am NOT a rip it out and start over kind of gal, I just stitch it and forget it (mostly) – it’ll wash out.
I also don’t prewash anything – never have, so the bit of shrinkage that happens anyways gives it more crinkles and you can almost not even tell. Or at least no one complains while they’re snuggled up under it watching a movie or binging TV!
