Blueberry Jam

When I look at my stash and think, “gah, I should use some of this” but not sure what to make or where to even start I will pick one thing, usually a precut, challenge myself to make something new using ONLY what I already have on hand, with exception of purchasing some sort of backing.

Also, is this a sign that my stash is too big??!! As a quilter, crafter, sewist, fabric enthusiast, is that even a thing?! Asking for a friend.

That is how this quilt and pattern came about.
I had this gorgeous jelly roll that I had purchased at a destash sale. It’s in some of my favorite colors – bright and cheerful with daisys and just all over gorgeous.

I set out with my little doodling notepad and pecil and got to skteching. I try to make the pattern utilize as much of the precut as possible, in this case, 2.5″ strips. One of my favorite parts of pattern writing is actually the math (gasp – I know right!) and figuring out all the different ways something can be used up or done.

This one uses up almost all of the strip set. It was fast to put together, simple pieceing and only 2 differnt blocks. It can be switched up a multitude of ways. Use a strip roll, a layer cake, yardage or scraps, the sky really is the limit.

And since I called the pattern “Jelly Boxes” – it was only fitting to name this quilt, Blueberry Jam (something you could get in a Jelly Box).
