Aurora’s Path
Another variation of the Arkansas Crossroads pattern.
The pattern I used was a freebie I found online, and it is called Briar Rose. If you’re a “I grew up on Disney movies in the 90’s kid”, you may know that Sleeping Beauty, is also known as Briar Rose/Aurora. She, coincidentally, is my most favorite Disney princess.
The colors in this line of fabric from Lella Boutique are some of my favorite. Soft peach and pinks, with mossy green and gray. Very country chic.
I backed this one with more of that super soft, cuddly minky fabric and quilted it with my sit-down machine.
It was one of my first attempts at structured free motion (meaning I didn’t use a pattern or stencil, but instead free-hand “drew” flowers in the middle of the patchwork blocks and did a little swirly doo-dad in the X’s.
Wrapped it all up with some scrappy binding, that I machine stitch on, because Momma don’t got the patience for hand stitching, anything.
