Sunflower Hollow Quilting

Halloween Stars

Sometimes I get the urge to purge my stash and only use what I have to make a project (I should probably do this more often). This is a complete scrap buster project that turned out so good and so festive!

One thing I love is precuts (we’ll always carry lots of those in the shop), because you get a little snippet of each piece in the line and it all goes together so beautifully. I find it an economical way to get to participate in the current trends and collections without breaking the bank buying yards and yards of each design.

In my stash, I had one single 5″ charm pack of a Halloween line called Boodacious, which wasn’t nearly enough for all I needed to make a quilt. To supplement additional fabric, I raided my stash for various prints that coordinated with the various shades of pinks, black, orange and purple in the line.

I added the borders to frame everything in and absolutely love the way the tiny orange border looks.

For the quilting, I did another DIY and created a stencil with the Cricut that I could use to trace a design on the quilt for free-motion quilting. It’s swirly with pumpkins and just cute as can be.

I chose a fun halloween-esque flannel backing that has *swoon, Mason Jars, in coordinating colors.

Scrappy hasn’t always been something I feel like I’m good at, but with each scrappy stash busting project it has grown on me and now one of my more favorite ways to quilt.

No matter how you choose to quilt, this pattern is quick and easy; super beginner-friendly – with the added bonus of it’s a free download!
